Sketch Designs

Here is another sketch design I have made and this is how I hope for it to look like with the black background and the arms slowly coming through it with the guns in his hand. My logo will be at the bottom of it all.

I have also drew out another sketch design but with the difference that this one looks more like a advertising board. After looking at the two I have decided to use this one as my idea with the guns at the top the hands by the side and the logo in the middle. I have also decided to make some bullets and I will be etching some writing into them saying survive that meaning to see how many rounds you will be able to survive.

Sketch Designs

Here are some sketch designs for my Call of Duty Zombie Apocalypse idea and what I have done is I have changed my idea slightly and what I will be doing now is an advertisement board for my map pack advertising the map pack instead of creating the map as I feel this could take a lot of time creating a map so I have decided to create an advertising board advertising the new map pack to go in city centres showing the release date and glimpses of the new weapons.

Idea Nazi Zombies

What I am going to be doing in Cinema 4D is I am going to be doing an advertisement for a new Call of Duty map pack for Xbox One called Zombie Apocalypse.
The first idea of mine was to build a Zombie map but have no weapons or anything like that so it looks like a poster for a new film that could be released but I opted to change my idea and do a Call of Duty zombie map pack but what I am doing is I am not having any zombies in the map I am just having the weapons on the map I am just having weapons on there as I feel it will be to difficult to create the zombies with the time scale that I have at the moment so I have decided to make the map and weapons.
I have chosen to do this idea because I really enjoy playing computer games and the Nazi zombies was one of my favourite games growing up playing on the xbox and I felt that It would be a good idea to create my own version on Cinema 4D for my 3D Modelling unit. I also chose this idea because Call of Duty Nazi zombies is one of the most successful gaming add ons in the history of Call of Duty because it was really fun to play and there is always something different when a new map pack out such as new guns new perks which can help you through the harder rounds such as more health Juggernaut and Sleight of Hand which was faster reloading.

Mind Map

Here is my mind map that I have drawn out showing my ideas of what I am going to be creating in Cinema 4D. I have wrote down what I will be creating and all the different colours that I will be adding to the guns.

Map Research

Here is the last map that they created on Call of Duty World at War which was Der Riese where they added most of all the technology to it such as the pack a punching your weapons and having to trigger mainframes to be able to open the map up as you can see in the image above. I have taken some inspiration from this map because it was the one where the creators Activision went the extra mile with the map adding everything to it and this was a massive launch pad for Nazi Zombies and this was the map that they made the most money on from gamers all over different consoles such as Xbox 360 Playstation 3 and PC.

Here is another map that I have took some inspiration from as it was the first call of duty map where they introduced the pack a punch for your weapon. The Pack a Punch was where you would pay a certain amount of coins and it would upgrade your weapon for you and this was good from when you were trying ton get to high rounds as certain guns such as the Ray Gun Upgraded and allows you to kill the zombies in one shot.

Here is another one of the maps that I have taken some inspiration from as this was one of the first maps that allowed you to have perks on the game such as Speed Cold and this perk allowed you to aim and reload faster. There were other ones such as Juggernaut which gave you more health so you wouldn't die as quickly and there is Double Tap which allowed you to fire bullets faster.

Guns Research

Here are some of the most popular guns that are used from the Call of Duty World at War Zombies modes. The most popular gun that was used and that everyone wanted in the game was the Ray Gun and this was able to kill them in one bullet and I will aim to create gun that has a similar and is enable to kill them in one bullet. The two that are at the bottom of the picture is the MP5 which was very useful when you are on the game and I will be creating my own Machine Gun with a little twist. The gun at the bottom on the left hand side is a Rocket launcher upgraded which they brought into the game in later maps and they called it a Pack a Punched Weapon which enabled you to better your gun to use in higher rounds.

What I will also do is I will create a new gun for the map pack and I will do this to advertise the map pack and be able to sell it because there is going to be a new gun on the game. This gun was introduced on the map Der Riese and this weapon would allow you to kill up to 10 zombies if they were all lined up together. This weapon only ever had 5 bullets so you had to choose when you used this weapon ad you didn't have that many bullets in the weapon.

Here is another gun that I will take some inspiration from this gun is called the Browning and this was the best machine gun that can be used in the Nazi Zombie series and I am going to be creating a machine gun in my zombies map and this gun had over 400 bullets in the machine gun so it would last you a long time in the game and when pack a punched the bullets doubled so it would last you a long time in the game.

3D Modelling Proposal

This is my proposal for my initial idea the gaming feature Nazi Zombies.

Working Title

The working title for my idea is going to be Zombie Apocalypse. I have chosen this name because it gives a rough idea of what the map pack is going to be like and also catch the eye of the reader looking at the advertisement.

Application

The application that I am going to be creating will be used to advertise the map pack that would be available on Xbox One which will be called Zombie Apocalypse on the new Call of Duty and what I will be doing is creating a new map on there and a few zombies and a few new weapons to try and sell the Map Pack.

Target Audience

The people who are most likely to view these elements are people who are interested in games and who also could be interested in the game series Call of Duty. By bringing out a new Map Pack could also attract people to buy the game and maybe buy the Map Pack as well and if you include lots of different weapons and different traps you could bring in more customers. The age group that this will come under is ages 18 and above because that is the PEGI rating that Call of Duty was given when it was in creation and my map pack will come under as that age group as well.

Objects to be modelled

The objects that will be modelled are as follows:
3 New Weapons
A background or a Map
I have chose all this to model because I believe that this is enough to be able to advertise the new Zombie Map pack called Zombie Apocalypse.

Visual Style

The style that I will adopt for my advertisement will be a dark and urban grit this is because I want to create my product similar to it and thats why I am going to be creating it with an urban grit style with a bit of darkness in there as well. By darkness this means that I would like to make the advertisement dark with all the zombies in the background and add a bit of darkness to them as well.

Legal and ethical decisions

The legal and ethical issues that I have to consider are that I can't directly copy the Nazi Zombies made by Call of Duty World at War what I will have to do is completely design the zombies differently and come up with my own designs for them and same goes for the map and also the guns I will have to make them by myself but what I can do is take some inspiration from the guns that they have made and create my own guns and map and also create by own logo for this advertisement as well.

Stimulus

The application that I will be using for this project is Cinema 4D and the reason behind this is that it is the best program to use for creating 3D Modelling and the best program for my chosen idea. For my 3D Modelling I have decided to produce a new Advertisement for a new Zombie Map Pack for Call of Duty called Zombie Apocalypse and I have decided to create this because I feel that it offers me the opportunity to develop upon the techniques I have learned in Claymation and learn new skills.

Target Audience and Client Use

As I am making a advertisement for a game I need to consider all audiences and the target audience for my 3D Modelling feature will be of ages 18 above because the game Call of Duty is rated 18 because of all the violence that Is in the game and because Activision and Infinity Ward the creators who help create the game are such big companies and have high standards of quality and reputation for making such good war and action games it is vital to take my target audience into consideration before making this advertisement on Cinema 4D

Key visual themes and Constraints

What the advert will look like is it will show 3 zombies walking at the front with at the bottom of the screen the logo ZOMBIE APOCALYPSE in capitals to catch the eye of the person looking at the advertisement and it will have a glimpse of the map pack in the background with the 2 new guns on ether sides of the zombies and it will be a dark and moody game rather than a glossy and bright one. There will not be much lighting as the advertisement will be mainly in black. The models that will be used in this advertisement will be created on Cinema 4D from the start although will be looking at posters in the past to get some inspiration on how to design my zombies and what I will have to do is maker them more simplistic but this could depend on which console because Xbox and Playstation are able to hold more complex imagery where as the Wii and Nintendo DS will require simpler models.

Legal and Ethical considerations

The legal codes and bodies that I will have to consider is that because I am creating something to add on to the game Call of Duty World at War and what I can't do is copy the map packs that have already been made such as Shi No Numa and Der Riese. I will have to create different guns and a completely different map

Models

The objects that will be modelled are as follows:
3 New Weapons
A background or a Map
What I will be doing is I will be doing some research into previous zombies maps past and the present ones to gain some ideas on how to create my map and I will also be doing some mind maps and also drawing up some potential maps and I will choose the best one. I will also be doing some research into the guns that have already been created and I will look at them to take some inspiration and draw out mind maps and drawing up some potential ideas for my guns. Also I will be looking at other weapons and I will create a first day release map to add to the game.

Creating a Mug in Cinema 4D

This is me starting to make my cup by adding a Spline Primitive and scaling it down to a suitable thickness for a handle.

Here is what the base of the cup looks like once I have added my Lathe Nurbs and this happens to the mug because there is no geometry until you place the spline inside it.

Here is what the base of the mug looks like at all different angles and experimenting it with different kinds of angles and curve types and this allows you to produce more cups and mug shapes.

This is what the mug looks like now when the B-Spline has been added and the circle inside the cup and what I have done after this is added a Sweep Nurbs to the mug and the handle fits.

Here is the mug finished its an Espresso cup that would be used at a coffee shop such as Starbucks or Costa Coffee.

What I really enjoyed about creating my cup on Cinema 4D was learning to use all the different tools in this program and also expanding my knowledge with using this program. What I struggled with doing this activity was the creating of the cup because it was difficult at the start to use all of the different tools and equipment but after the first couple of steps of creating the mug I started to understand how to use all the tools and I now feel more confident about using Cinema 4D.

3D Modelling Report

In this report I will be producing a report that explores various uses of 3D Modelling and I will be explaining how and why its used and the advantages to be found on this. I will be using different examples and explore of the various uses of 3D such as:
Product design
Animation
TV
Film
Web and games
Education
Architectural walk-through
Cinema 4D has been very influential when making games such as Minecraft and gamers have gained lots of benefits from this program when creating games. Cinema 4D has also been massively influential when creating iPhone and iPod games such as Angry Birds which is one of the biggest selling iPhone and iPod games to date and they are still making new Angry Birds games the latest one being the Star Wars Angry Birds game.

Web and Games

Within web and games a production team called Third-frame studios, they love computer games like no one else and they are experts in racing games and also they were a big help in the creation of Minecraft and they also loved the idea of creating iPod and iPhone games but with making iPhone and iPod games  nobody had the time to turn words into action. A few months later a guy called Andraz Logar had some spare time and created a game for all graphic elements for the game and the name of this was Groove Racer. Andraz had special look inside and he wanted a isometric landscape that resembled Minecraft. The cars had to look realistic so they could look like real 3D cars. Andraz chose to use Cinema 4D as his choice to create all the different graphic elements for the game, which would then carry the name Groove Racer. Because of Andraz experience on Cinema 4D, the team knew they could effectively be used to create numerous graphic elements without switching back and fourth to different applications. After these 3D models were completed they were used to set up scenes for the game and in the end six large renderings were needed which were cut down to size in post production using the slice tool so they could integrate into the game engine cameras with parallel projection were used to create the isometric look. As you can see within Web and Games Cinema 4D has big advantages in game because it has helped with Minecraft and this is one of the biggest games now on Xbox One and Xbox 360 as it has grossed a lot of money.

Education
Cinema 4D is ever growing across the world with people in the majority of the world and no more than on the Chinese Market and it is increasing at an impressive rate and one factor that is making this evident is the steady growth in the training sectors Shanghai based Image Digital Technology is one of the few selected for Cinema 4D training to educate people around 16 year olds or above to use Cinema 4D and be able to get apprenticeships and jobs in Cinema 4D. If all participants learn to use Cinema 4D the results are quite astonishing and at the end of all the training they are tasked to create a short film within the 30hour timeline. The teams themselves determine what they are going to be making and the best films get selected at the end of year and last years winner created a post industrial advertising clip and the group that was inspired from a Norwegian company and they had 30 hours to complete this and it took them 30 hours to Model, Animate and create it. As you can see with this people across the world are using Cinema 4D and people in Shanghai are using it to maybe gain jobs and apprenticeships within Cinema 4D and these people are creating short films using Cinema 4D within 30 hours and then getting awards for them from all there hard work and dedication to what they are creating and they are going sleepless to create these over the 30 hours to get it finished.

TV
Cinema 4D has had a massive impact on television especially the Logos that you can see on the television and in 2012 the Football Tournament Euro 2012 was happening and Cinema 4D had a help on the logo for that tournament. This logo was created in the time of 4 months by a man called Helder Pombino and his team and what they did was he had his team create dynamic ambitions based on Brandias Designs. Avoiding a photo-realsitic look, these animations had to capture expression, style and feeling. In the course over four months the trio at Bikini developed video vignettes, clips and also transitions and stills for the euro 2012 logo and this was all done using the program, cinema 4D features were used to create great looking animations for the wide variety of elements involved. Bikini used Cinemas 4Ds render and its sketch and toon feature to create a desired look for the Euro 2012 logo. This hard work in creating this logo paid of when they won an award for Best motion graphics of 2010 from creative portugal which is a very prestigious prize. This prize shows what you can do with Cinema 4D and it shows that you can create anything on Cinema 4D.

Film

Cinema 4D has had a massive hand in film and especially with the creations of cartoon logos such as the Cartoon Network and one of the biggest ones was the Ben 10 series that has been created. Ben 10 first aired in 2006 on Cartoon Network this was one of the launch pads for animated television programs. The work for Ben 10 is slick combinations of 3D environments created with Cinema 4D and 2D characters which were first drawn and then animated using Cinema 4D and Adobe flash. A few of the characters shots from Ben 10 were combined with back drops in post production but the creators say that most of everything else involved. The characters are often required to produce suitable reflections on the floor which are cast shadows such as when Ben is running through  explosions and to achieved this what happened is they applied alpha onto a flat pane which is positioned with the scene and animated. Cinema 4D was used a lot for the floating objects that are in the program and also to create the weapons that are used and also it was used to create his watch that allows him to change into all the ten monsters in the program. After everything has been created on Cinema 4D all the shots would have to be sweetened and all the effects were added to brighten light sources and all the explosions in the cartoon. Three promo shots were created for the TV show Ben 10 omniverse which were created over the course of six to seven weeks with various other programs in creation at the same time with team numbers varied which would then consist of six-eight people and two to three flash animators as well and two Cinema 4D and two composing. The end result of it is worth it because Ben 10 is still being shown on Cartoon Network and it gets some of the highest viewing figures on there and they are continuing to make more series to add on to it this is something else that Cinema 4D has had a massive influence.

Architectural walk-through

Cinema 4D is also used when planning on creating new buildings and showing what they are going to look like to the public before they create these buildings for marketing and now this is part of the building process itself. Some clients will struggle to interpret these 2D Drawings and clients tend to feel a lot more comfortable with it being shown on a 3D image scheme and when showing clients these 3D image schemes it allows you to gain some feedback from the client you are pitching your idea to. Clients often think that you can create these models off one click on the program Cinema 4D but to ensure that these are speedy 3D visuals Frank Ellis made sure that he used the powerful and well integrated combination of vectorworks and Maxon Cinema 4D and then they will be using them to design the building and visualise it. Cinema 4Ds support for Vectorworks includes imports of all materials and lights. With smarter updater you can go back to Vectorworks and edit or make any amendments if it is needed without having the fear of losing your work that you have already done on  Cinema 4D such as the addition of trees, people and animation. With 3D visuals now a firm part of the design process, Franklin Ellis is finding out that not just the buildings that are its also the finer details such as the surroundings near the building also the junctions of the buildings of the building to the client and contractors.

Product Design

Cinema 4D is also very helpful when it comes to product design such as when creating the new Liquorice All Sorts Lickety Split. Bertie was created in 1929 has remained unchanged since he was first created nearly 100 years ago he consists of blue feet, yellow shorts, striped body and a pink face but he was rebranded to keep him up to date. and this meant jumping from 2D Illustration into hyper real 3D. The job of visualising the new look Bertie fell to Emlyn Davies who is the creative director of Caerphilly in South Wales where he was given the project when he was working for Cadburys design studio. The character Bertie was animated in Cinema 4D and then he was texturised using high resolution photographs of actual sweets some of the materials were really simple just using the high-res images which would work really well and time was a major factor when creating Bertie and finding short cuts was key. Cinema 4Ds character tools allowed bones to be placed within the model which that would blind to mesh and disort it when it was moving. This would quickly manipulate Bertie into his stride pose. With Bertie rigged the it was tie for him to be rendered and area shadows and light was used as they wanted the best results they possibly could get after this they made adjustments using photoshop. Bertie was then output as 16-bit images and with multi pass layers to help colour with colour correcting and for the addition or removal of shadows and highlights. The most useful thing about using Cinema 4D for creating Bertie it was ether the creating of the hands because it was easy to use and take out a lot of work thats never been seen by a client who don't understand the process.

Introduction to Cinema 4D and Idea

Hello this is my introduction to the program Cinema 4D where I will be creating my 3D Modelling project on. My first Idea that I have came up with was to involving gaming and the Nazi Zombies from Call of Duty World at War and my idea was to use the old maps from this game as a spring board and create my own Nazi Zombies map and create my own zombies. I cam up with this idea because I loved this game and game mode growing up and I would really like to create my own version but I feel that this could be really difficult to create in Cinema 4D. With creating Nazi Zombies this would mean coming up with new weapons to create and traps on the map and because my idea is an advertisement what I will be doing is putting a new weapon in the advertisement so then this will attract the eye of people and this could persuade people to buy the map pack with all the new special weapon and other stuff that will be included in the map pack.
